Dr. Caroline Lea TyndallDr. Lea grew up on her family's tobacco and cattle farm in Eastwood, North Carolina, just outside of West End. Her love for animals and passion to become a veterinarian began at an early age and has continued throughout her life. She attended NC State University where she obtained both her bachelors in animal science and her doctorate of veterinary medicine. Following graduation, she started her career here as an associate veterinarian for Animal Health Center in 2015 which she maintained until purchasing the practice from Dr. Keith Harrison in October 2018. Dr. Lea has a special interest in feline medicine, but thoroughly enjoys all aspects of medicine and surgery. She is a member of several professional associations including the American Association of Feline Practitioners as well as the American Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Lea's family have been Moore County natives for over 4 generations and she feels very blessed to have the support of her local family and friends as she continues her passion in this community. Outside of work, Dr. Lea and her husband Jared stay busy with their three precious children (Olivia, Allison, and Cameron) and their pets Eddie (Pug), Jules (Golden Retriever), and Skitt (dilute calico kitty). They also love cheering on the Wolfpack at NC State and are proud football season ticket holders!
Jared TyndallJared is not only our hard working practice manager, but he also happens to be Dr. Lea's wonderful husband. Jared began his career as a veterinary assistant at a private practice in Raleigh in 2004. He stayed with that practice until 2014 when he joined Banfield Pet Hospital in Cary as their practice manager until Dr. Lea was lucky enough to convince him to leave to join the West Pine team. Jared is a huge animal lover, and has a special interest in caring for our more fearful pets who sometimes need an extra dose of TLC. In his spare time Jared thoroughly enjoys watching sports with pro football being his favorite sport and the Denver Broncos being his favorite team.
Dana NuzzoDana has been a veterinary receptionist since 2006. After many years in Florida, she returned to her home in North Carolina. . Dana has always had a fondness for Yorkies, but loves all animals. As our amazing receptionist she enjoys the clients, their pets, and working with a great team! In her spare time she enjoys being a Seven Lakes socialite, so look out for her around town!
Dr. Keith Harrison**Dr. Keith Harrison retired in May of 2020. We have left his bio up to honor him and the years of hard work he put into this practice. We all miss him greatly and thank him for everything he did for all of us and all of the great work he did for the pets of Moore County and beyond his entire career. We wish him an excellent retirement full of relaxation, time with grandchildren, and lots of fishing!!
Born and raised in Hickory, N.C. Dr. Keith Harrison attended N.C. State University where he majored in animal science. He then received his doctorate in veterinary medicine from Auburn University in 1981. After graduation he joined Dr. Russell Tate, Sr., at Maple Lawn Animal Clinic in Vass, N.C. practicing companion animal and equine medicine, and then later at the Animal Health Center in Southern Pines. In 1989 Dr. Harrison and Dr. Tate opened a second location for Animal Health Center in West End which became West Pine Animal Hospital and Pet Resort in 2018. Dr. Harrison has a special interest in all types of surgery and enjoys the everyday challenges of internal medicine. Dr. Harrison is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association and the North Carolina Academy of Small Animal Medicine. He and his wife Mary Scott have two daughters, Amanda and Rebecca, and a cute little dachshund mix named Leroy. His hobbies include bass fishing, golf and spending time with his family. |
Dr. Leah Tucker
Associate Veterinarian Dr. Tucker joined us in June, 2022 as an Associate Veterinarian. She is a native of High Point, NC, and attended college in Greensboro prior to graduating from the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. She then spent 7 years at the coast working in both general practice and emergency medicine before coming to the Sandhills to move away from hurricanes and closer to family. Dr. Tucker's special areas of interest are feline medicine, dentistry, soft tissue surgery, and wound management. When not at work she enjoys reading, knitting, and cooking. She is currently the underappreciated human servant of 3 cats: Smudge, Spooky, and Muggsy Bogues. Annette GirtonAnnette has years of experience in the veterinary field and has been diligently serving our clients at the front desk since 2011. In 2022, she became administrative assistant to help Jared keep both locations running smoothly. She has been an animal lover all her life and enjoys doing her part to help keep pets healthy and happy. Closest to Annette's heart are Oaklynn and Lula Bean, her two fur children. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, photography, and being active.
Christie Fields
Client Specialist Christie joined us in June, 2023 as a Client Specialist. After living in NY for a bit, she moved back home in 2016 and, ever since, has been pursuing her passion of taking care of and helping animals. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, their 2 children and many animals. Other than making memories with her family, her favorite activities are reading, drawing, and working in the yard. Brianna ParsonsBrianna has been with us since August 2019 when she was hired as an Animal Care Specialist and Vet Assistant. She has had a life long love of animals and sees them not just as pets, but as companions. She loves to read and spend time with her own fur baby, a beautiful tuxedo kitty named Cookie. Her experience here has convinced her to pursue this as a career and is currently enrolled in a Registered Veterinary Technician program.
Stefanie Batten
Animal Care Specialist Stefanie joined us in May, 2023 as an Animal Care Specialist. She has always had a passion for animals and has relished the opportunity to learn and grow at West Pine Animal Hospital. She has started to get some training as a Veterinary Assistant and is looking forward to soaking up all the knowledge she can. Nothing makes her happier than to take care of and play with all the "sweet babies" in her care. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her kids and the rest of her family. Emma Wooten
Veterinary Assistant Emma joined us in April, 2021 as a part time Animal Care Specialist. She has more recently decided to make veterinary medicine her career, moved to a full time Veterinary Assistant and enrolled in the Penn Foster program to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. Having a career working with animals is something she has thought of since she was a small child and is excited to see what the future holds. She is the proud Cat Mama to Crookshanks, and proclaims to be an aspiring "Crazy Cat Lady". Emily Tortora
Veterinary Assistant Emily has been here with us since May, 2022. She began as a part time Animal Care Specialist and soon realized how much of a passion she had for her job. She switched career paths and started working full time as a vet assistant. She is now enrolled in a registered veterinary technician program to prepare herself for a long veterinary career. In her spare time, Emily enjoys traveling, the outdoors, music, and the gym. |
Dr. Jennifer Behrmann
Associate Veterinarian Dr Behrmann is a 2011 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine and joined us in May, 2024. Since beginning her career in Southern Illinois she has practiced in several states including Tennessee, Alabama, and Florida. She has been practicing locally since moving here with her husband 3 years ago. They have decided to put down some roots here while they work on establishing their little farm. Dr Behrmann’s passions include preventative medicine, client education, geriatric care, and wound management. Dr Behrmann may take the care of her patients very seriously, but she is also a source of entertainment- no one ever really knows what might come out of her mouth next. She and her husband share their residence with 2 dogs (Kona, Carolina dog, and Drax, Doberman), 3 cats (Fizzgig, Lord Nelson, and Jester (Murder Mittens)), and 3 horses (Coal, Dixie, and Duncan). When not choring on the farm, they enjoy horseback riding, traveling, and the quiet of their back porch. Nicole WalshNicole has been a fantastic veterinary assistant with us since 2009. First with Animal Health Center and now with West Pine Animal Hospital. She graduated in 2007 with her bachelors in biology from Western Carolina University. She is the proud pet parent to Kiki- a beautiful black cat! She is currently enrolled in the Penn Foster Veterinary Technician program to become a registered technician to help serve the pets of West Pine Animal Hospital even better!
Amelia Parsons
Animal Care Specialist Amelia has been with us since march 2023, hired as an animal care specialist and vet assistant. She has always been a lover of animals and will be pursuing a career in veterinary medicine. She loves hanging out and listening to music with her best friends - Athena (husky,mix), Bos (pitbull), Squeaky (smokey-grey kitty) and Salem (tortie kitty). Meg Campbell
Client Specialist Meg started as a client specialist in August 2021 and has a great love for animals. She is our clinic comedian and comic relief, always keeping us on our toes. She has two spoiled rotten rescue dogs, Nala and Merle, that she loves very much.
